Upcoming, special, Events

Saturday 16 December from 11.30 a.m to 12.15 p.m   Canterbury Council of Churches invites us to sing carols with other members of local churches.  The gathering will be at Theatre Place, Maling Road Canterbury.  We will be accompanied (and will accompany)  musicians from Balwyn Road Uniting church.

TUESDAY 19TH – 7.30pm – A QUIET CHRISTMAS – a gentle, contemplative service for when Christmas might be difficult. There is such an expectation that Christmas is bright and cheery. But for many this is not so. Maybe it is an especially lonely time, it might be the first Christmas without a loved one, or the Christmas crowds are simply too much. Join us for some peace and serenity.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES, 24th DECEMBER:

  • 9.30am – SERVICE OF READINGS AND CAROLS – following the stream of wisdom literature in the Hebrew scriptures, we will hear of the coming of the wisdom of God into the world in the person of Jesus. All of this scriptural richness will be interwoven with wonderful Christmas music.
  • 5pm – A FAMILY CHRISTMAS SERVICE – Make the cradle ready for the baby Jesus. Share in hearing the story, songs and craft activities, along with preparing the cradle.
  • 11pm – CANDLELIT MIDNIGHT SERVICE – gather in the darkness for this sublime service as we welcome the light coming into the world and share in the Lord’s Supper together.

CHRISTMAS DAY, 25TH DECEMBER – 9.30am – Christmas morning service
